Biggest Tally Of Covid Cases In Delhi
Today recorded more than 15,000 Covid cases in Delhi in 24 hours – the most since 8 May. Regular cases of national capital rose by 41.5% in a day because 15,097 infections were detected in Delhi. Earlier in the day, the city saw its largest single-day increase in almost 8 months – 10,665 cases. The rate of positivity has crossed 15%. 6 related deaths were recorded in the same tenure.
The city has been hit hard by the pandemic, is rendering a massive wave of cases over the years, a wave that is supposed to be pushed by the greatly absorbent Omicron version of the virus.
The increase in covid cases in Delhi is also attended by an increased number of hospitalizations. As per the current data, the score of patients in Delhi hospitals has grown from 247 on 1 January to 531 on 4 January. In the past 3 days, the score of patients on oxygen aid has enhanced from 94 to 168 and the score of patients on ventilators from 4 to 14. Out of 12,104 oxygen beds for infected people, 1,116 are in hospitals in Delhi, along with 72 ventilator beds.

Satyendar Jain, the state Health Minister stated that about 14,000 new cases are likely to be recorded in the national capital today. The minister, although, ruled out the probability of a lockdown in Delhi. Attributing to the raised testing, Jain added, “There has been a quick boost in the covid cases in Delhi in the previous some days. There have been so many cases, today this is touching to 14,000. We are operating the maximum tests in the nation”.
Assuring the residents of the National capital about the preparedness of the city to tackle the point, the minister stated the city is in a “comfortable status” in cases of hospital beds being occupied. “Now, the death measure is 1 in 1,000. The situation is normal in comparison to past tenure. Yesterday we held 9,000 free beds, now it is 12,000, thus our practices are accomplished. Now we are testing around 90,000, he stated”.
