CBSE, CISCE Cancelled 12th Class Board Exams
After the 10th class board exams, now CBSE class 12 board exams and CISCE exams have been canceled in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Prime Minister NarendraModi said that the decision to cancel class 12 CBSE board exams had been taken in the interest of students. CBSE, CISCE canceled 12th class board exams to protect children from the COVID-19 pandemic.
PM Modi has also instructed officials to ensure that the class 12th results are prepared in accordance with well-defined criteria in a fair and time-bound manner. In the wake of Prime Minister NarendraModi’s announcement canceling class XII exams, some states Tuesday said they would reconsider managing their respective state Board exams.
The decision was taken in a high-level meeting with Prime Minister NarendraModi; this meeting was attended by many union ministers comprising Rajnath Singh, Prakash Javadekar, NirmalaSitaramanDharmendra Pradhan, PiyushGoyal and bureaucrats of several ministers.
Soon after the meeting was over, Prime Minister Modi said that the Centre has decided to cancel the class 12 board exams. PM Modi said, “After inclusive meetings, we have taken a decision that is student-friendly, one that safeguards the well-being and also the future of our youth.
The CBSE has released an official notification stating that the postponed class 12th exams now stand canceled. “Any learner who is not happy with the assessment has an opportunity to appear in the exam as and when the condition becomes favorable,” reads the official statement by CBSE. Following the center’s announcement, the council for the Indian school certificate Examinations (CISCE) too informed that the ISC Board examinations of class 12 had been canceled.
Delhi Chief Minister ArvindKejriwal said it is a big relief that the class 12 board exams have been canceled. While the alternative evaluation guidelines for the exams have not been completed by the board still, officials said, it is expected to be on similar lines as announced for class 10th, which look into account the performance of a student in many tests and exams through the year.
The PM of India stated that the judgment on class 12 CBSE exams had been taken in the attention of students. He stated that COVID-19 had affected the academic calendar, and the problems of Board Exams have been extreme anxiety among students, parents and teachers, which must be put to an end.
Both CBSE and CISCE will publish the guidelines for the assessment of marks for class 12 board students. Recently the CISCE and CBSE schools were asked to submit data of class 12 student’s performance in classes 11, 10 and 9. It is assumed that the final class 12 marks could be determined according to the performance in internals and past three-year performance. A final decision, however, is awaited.
After CBSE and CISCE 12th board exam cancellation MP Board, HBSE, GSEB and other boards have started canceling class 12 exams. The other board students are also looking for the final decision on their board exams. Mane students took to Twitter and requested the Prime Minister to cancel their class 12th board exams because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
