Delhi on Alert: Curbs Enforced for Republic Day Parade Rehearsal in the Capital

In anticipation of Republic Day Parade rehearsal, the Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory detailing the arrangements for the full dress rehearsal in Central Delhi on Monday.

Scheduled for Tuesday, the Republic Day rehearsal will follow the Republic Day parade route, commencing at 10:30 a.m. from Vijay Chowk. The procession will traverse through Kartavya Path, India Gate C Hexagon, and various central Delhi areas, concluding at the iconic Red Fort.

On Tuesday, the rehearsal will take position on the exact route as the Republic Day Parade.

On Monday, traffic was barred from 6 p.m. Kartavya Oath from Vijay Chowk to India Gate. 

The imposed restrictions will persist until the conclusion of the rehearsal on Tuesday. Kartavya Path’s traffic limitations, effective from 11 p.m. at Rafi Marg, Janpath, and Man Singh Road, will continue until the rehearsal concludes.

On Tuesday from 9.15 a.m., the India Gate C Hexagon will stay closed, till the parade crosses Tilak Marg, according to police. The advisory recommends travelers to plan their Tuesday journeys, advising avoidance of the parade route from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Delhi Metro service also conduct as usual, although boarding and deboarding at Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan stations will be closed from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m.

City bus movement will be restricted at various locations, such as Delhi Secretariat, Kashmere Gate ISBT, and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT. Additionally, buses arriving from Ghaziabad and National Highway-24 will undergo diversions, as mentioned in the advisory.

The advisory said, “ Traffic in both directions will not be authorized on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Netaji Subhas Marg from 10.30 am. Cross-traffic will only be permitted relying on the direction of the parade.” Also, the police have ordered people to plan their journey and choose a different route instead of the route of the parade from 9.30 am to 1 pm. 

Important information for buses from Ghaziabad, that bound for Shivaji Stadium will take National Highway-24, Ring Road, and terminate at Bhairon Road. From the National Highway-24, buses will take the right turn on road no 56 and terminate at ISBT-Anand Vihar. It also added that buses from Wazirabad Bridge from Ghaziabad will be turned at Mohan Nagar towards Bhopra Chungi. 

The police have implemented a ban on activities such as paragliding, paramotoring, hang gliding, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), microlight aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small-size powered aircraft, quadcopters, or para jumping from aircraft over the National Capital Territory of Delhi until February 15.
