What the Tweet said
“We have made petrol extremely low in Delhi from 2 December 2021. The rates of VAT have been decreased from 30 percent to 19.4 percent. Diesel and petrol would be lower in Delhi than in other places in NCR. I hope that this phase would give great relief to the Delhi residents from expansion,” Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted.
Current Prices
The government declared a statement stating that after the conversion, diesel and petrol would be the lowest in Delhi. “The rates of Delhi diesel are previously lower in NCR at Rs. 86.67 per ltr., while the diesel prices in Gurgaon and Noida are Rs. 87.01 and 87.11 per ltr individually. Last year, the Delhi government had a minor grown VAT on petrol. At the time, VAT on petrol was 27 percent, which was grown to 30 percent,” the statement stated.
In November’s first week, the Center had declared a cut in excise tax on petrol by Rs. 5 per ltr and on diesel by Rs. 10 per ltr, when fuel prices hit a record high.
Because then, opponent parties in Delhi are requesting the state government to reduce VAT on petrol as well. After the declaration of the Center, Delhi BJP leaders had required that VAT be reduced by Rs. 10 per ltr.
On Wednesday, the BJP and Congress required that VAT on diesel as well be a reduction to control expansion.
Adesh Gupta, Delhi BJP President stated that the demonstration against the government of Delhi would continue till diesel prices were also cut.
Anil Chaudhary, Delhi Congress President stated, “Until VAT on diesel is also decreased, Delhiites would proceed to experience, as rising prices of all essential commodities, because of costlier rates of transportation cost spoiled the family budget of the people.”
In India, the price of fuel varies from state to state based on local freight charges and local taxation. Aside from this, the Center government levies an excise tax on auto fuels.
Petrol and diesel rates are updated daily depending on the normal fuel price in the international market and overseas exchange rates for the last 15 days.
