Delhi Reports First Case of Covid-19 JN.1 Variant
In India, 40 new cases of the JN.1 sub-variant, with the fastest rising to 109 as of 26 December. On Wednesday, Delhi’s first case of the Covid-19 sub-variant JN.1 was reported, said Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj.
Bharadwaj told to the reporters, “ The collected 3 samples delivered for Genome Sequencing, in which one is JN.1 and two are Omicron.” He also said that “ JN.1 is a sub-variant of Omicron and is a benign disease. This virus spreading fast in South India. But don’t worry, it causes mild sickness.”
A Delhi government official confirmed that a 28-year-old patient, an individuals with underlying health conditions, who passed away, with Covid not listed as the primary cause. The Official said that “ the man did not come from Delhi and lately he transferred to a private hospital. He had diverse co-morbidities and the Covid finding was accidental. The sample of the man has been delivered for genome sequencing and waiting for the info.”
The official said numerous samples were delivered for genome sequencing, and one of them confirmed positive for the JN.1 variant.
India recorded 40 additional cases of the JN.1 subvariant, bringing the total to 109 as of December 26, according to sources from the health ministry who spoke to reporters. In the last 24 hours, India recorded 529 new cases of the Covid-19 virus, while the country’s active case total stood at 4,093. According to the ministry data updated at 8 am.
In the list of these Covid cases, 36 cases were confirmed from Gujarat, 34 from Karnataka, 14 from Goa, 9 from Maharashtra, 6 from Kerala, 4 from Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu and 2 from Telangana. Many patients are doing home isolation.
In one day, the Delhi Health Department confirmed that in 24 hours, 9 fresh cases of Covid-19 were glimpsed in the city. In Delhi, 35 active cases now.
In the past few weeks, despite a significant flow in COVID-19, officials believe that there is no need to worry or no cause of immediate reaction as 92 % of patients choose home-based treatment, which stipulates a mild illness.

He also said that 400 tests are being executed every day and the positivity rate is approximately 1%. Saurabh Bharadwaj also confirms that the new JN.1 One variant of the Omicron virus is not so harmful.
“ The new variants are not so scary but people should not become lazy and they need to obey safety and health rules. People need to remain calm and avoid assuming that the virus is rapidly spreading and causing fatalities. But people should vital to follow the healthcare guidelines during the time of the festival season.”
