These reports give an overall view of what apps have access to each data category on my phone and how those apps have used that information. However, to find the reports and manage them, you must dig into your settings app.

Apps have access to many of your phone data, including your location and contacts. And if you’re using an app from a company like Facebook or Google, it can even track your activity across all of their apps and services. Apple has a way for you to see what kind of data each app is accessing on your phone. It’s called the App Privacy Report, and it shows you all the times an app has requested access to any piece of information on your devices — like your contacts or location.

Apple’s update on App Privacy Report

Apple’s iOS 15 update was announced in June. The App Privacy Report was included, which is privacy tool. This feature allows users to monitor apps that access their iPhone data, including their camera, microphone and contacts. Apple’s September release of iOS 15 did not provide a way to view the privacy report. This was fixed in the iOS 15.2 update on December 13.It is now possible to monitor and deny permissions for apps to access your information and track which URLs they are connecting to every day. You can stop and inspect apps quickly if you own an iPhone 6s and older that has been updated to iOS 15.2. This could include accessing your camera roll or polling your location. This feature is automatically disabled.

Click on the Settings icon to go to Privacy.
Scroll down and tap App Privacy Report
To see the timeline of permissions accessed, click Turn on App Privacy Report.
After a second, you can check the full list of apps in the report.

Here’s How To Understand This Information After Turning It On

Click on the Settings icon to go to Privacy.
Scroll down and tap Privacy Report.
Tap on any app in Data or Sensor Access to see the timeline for various permissions accessed.
Click an app under App Network Activity to check how many domains were accessed by the app.
To see the apps accessed from this domain, tap on Most Visited Domains.

Apple’s App Network Activity and Most Contacted Domains sections can tell you whether multiple apps are accessing the same domain. This could indicate that the domain/website creates a profile of you by combining your activities across all apps.
