Indian Olympic Players 2024- How Many Medals Won

Started in Ancient Greece in the early 1900s, today Olympic games are referred to as the world’s foremost sports championships exceeding 200 teams that represent sovereign states and territories. Across plenty of sports like badminton, judo, archery, boxing, hockey, table tennis, shooting, swimming, and more, individuals from different nations and territories showcase their talent and win medals for their respective home countries. Talking about India, we have a total of 38 medals, including the ongoing Paris Olympic medals. The Indian athletes from diverse regions of the country have showcased their skill and dedication which reflects the hard work and devotion that has gone into training for this prestigious event.

Commenced on 26 July 2024, the Paris Olympics will continue till 11th August 2024. Our skilled athletes are in the hunt for medals across 16 sports.

Athletes Participation 

According to the reports, overall 117 sports enthusiasts, including five reserves, are on the field to get medals of the Olympic games. Many gold medal athletes such as Neeraj Chopra who won the medal in javelin throw, and PV Sindhu who won the medal in badminton are also taking part in this year’s Olympic games to bring home more medals.

Medals Won in Paris Olympics 2024

On the 1st of August, the shooter Swapnil Kusale got the third 2024 Olympic medal, which is the bronze medal in the men’s rifle 50m. 

On the other hand, Manu Bhaker, who is a shooter brings home dual bronze medals. She competed and won in the women’s 10m air pistol shooting and mixed team 10m air pistol shooting along with partner Sarabjot Singh. Her achievement is historical as she became the first Indian women athlete to get 2 medals in the same year Olympics. Additionally, she is the one to create this iconic history after Norman Pritchard’s two silvers which initiated India’s account in Paris in 1900.

India’s Prior Achievements in the Olympics Over the Years

Talking about the Olympics India winners, before Neeraj Chopra, the rifle shooter Abhinav Bindra was the first ever Indian athlete to win an Olympic gold medal in Beijing 2008. Later, after a decade Neeraj Chopra brought the gold medal home in a javelin throw from Tokyo Olympics 2020. 

Another contributor to India’s Olympic medal collection was Men’s hockey with an overall 12 medals including eight golds. This was followed by seven medals in wrestling in recent years.

Till now India has won 3 bronze medals in general. However, people in India are eagerly expecting more Paris Olympic medals, as compared to previous years. We wish our athletes all the luck and best wishes.
