Shubham Dubey, a new face of the Rajasthan Royals team, you see in this year’s IPL matches. Shubham Dubey was assured a cheque of Rs 5.80 crore by Rajasthan Royals to play for them in the 2024 IPL season. Dubey’s remarkable performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy highlighted his talent and prowess in big-hitting. He accumulated a total of 222 runs across seven matches, boasting an impressive strike rate of 187.28 and an average of 73.76. Dubey expresses his gratitude to Sudip, his mentor, and Romi Bhinder, the representative of Rajasthan Royals, for acknowledging and admitting his talent.

Nagpur- In an interview, Shubham Dubey said about their past, he had no money to even purchase a pair of batting gloves. Amid expressing gratitude to a gathering of supporters congregating at the Dubey family residence in Kamal Square on Tuesday evening. On Tuesday, the powerful batter was assured a payment of Rs 5.80 crore by Rajasthan Royals for his participation in the 2024 IPL season.

Shubham Dubey said “ It’s a surprising sensation. Given my performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, I was optimistic about being selected in the auction. Honestly, I wasn’t anticipating such a substantial amount.” in between thanking a crowd of well-wishers thronging the Dubey family residence at Kamal Square on Tuesday evening. 

Describing Dubey’s performance in the SMAT as merely “doing well” would be an understatement. His explosive innings this year loudly proclaimed the 27-year-old’s talent and remarkable ability in big-hitting.

In the selection process, Dubey showcased his prowess by scoring 222 runs in seven matches at a superb strike rate of 187.28 and an excellent average of 73.76. During his seven outings, Dubey hammered 10 fours and smashed 18 sixes. Left-hander Shubham achieved the joint-fastest T20 fifty for Vidarbha, accomplishing it in just 18 balls against Bengal. He abides unbeaten in 58 at an other-worldly strike rate of 290 in Vidarbha’s highlight chase of SMAT. 

Shubham said that they never forget his humble background or not those people who helped him drift over the financial barricade. “Our financial situation was extremely challenging during that period. Sudip sir supported me a lot, without their asset, I wouldn’t have attained anything in my life,’ Dubey said remembering his mentor, the late Sudeep Jaiswal. 

Jaiswal, an attorney, once operated Advocate 11, a club that offered assistance to numerous gifted players experiencing financial constraints. Regrettably, at the age of 53, Jaiswal lost his battle with Covid in 2021.

Shubham also said “ Purchasing even a glove was not feasible for me. He gave me a new bat and a kit. He offered me a chance to play 11 for under-19, under-23, and A Division teams. I wouldn’t have made it to the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) team, without him. After this, Shubham Dubey thanked his childhood coach Rohit Kesarwar. 

“ He explored Rajasthan Royals academy in Talegaon with his parents and mentor Irfan Razzak. He is full of talents. It is good to see players getting good rewards for their hard work thanks to the IPL” said Rajasthan Royals Romi Bhinder.
