Delhi Police Responds to Allegations of Attack on Officer Involved in Namaz Dispute”

On Friday, a controversy started after a purported video of a sub-inspector kicking and pushing people offering “namaz” in Delhi’s Inderlok went viral. On Sunday, Delhi Police posted a clarification after a viral social media post asserted that the sub-inspector who kicked people offering namaz in the Inderlok area was attacked a day after in the presence of cops. 

The controversial video occurs when the scuffle between the residents and police was transmitted in X. The video posted claimed that Inspector Manoj Tomar, who kicked a namaz, was attracted in the presence of police in Delhi, Yesterday. 

The official account of DCP North Delhi contradicts the assertion saying, “ This is wrong news. The mentioned SI is not current in this video. The video is of Friday not yesterday, 8th March, when protestors had assembled in Inderlok. Locals accompanied police officers to the police post after which a scuffle took place,”. 

In the North Delhi areas, the situation was unrelaxed after sub-inspector Manoj Tomar kicked people offering namaz on a road near the Inderlok Metro Station.

The incident happens during a Friday prayer around 2 pm, showing a protest by hundreds of locals against the force, and the suspension of sub-inspector with quick results. 

In this viral video, Tomar was seen trying to stop some men praying on the road near a mosque and after this, he started kicking some of them. 

Many people from different societies, and political leaders, denounced the cat after a video of it went viral on social media. 

 SI Tomar Suspended

The Delhi Police suspended the mentioned sub-inspector with quick results, following the protest and curse from political leaders and several sections of the society. 

Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind chief Maulana Mahmood Madani denounced the SI’s act and requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to end the services of the officer. Madani also conveyed worry about the terrifying “ anti-Muslim environment” in Delhi, in a letter to Amit Shah.
