Elvish Yadav, Bigg Boss OTT winner, has confirmed arranging snakes and snake venom at rave parties held by him, according to police. On Sunday, Elvish Yadav was arrested and remanded to 14-day judicial custody.

Elvish Yadav faces a case under the Wildlife Act in Noida for arranging snake venom at rave parties. Earlier, Elvish Yadav denied any relation with the case, but now he admitted that he arranged snake venom at rave parties.

What is the Case?

Last year in Noida, the case surrounds the illegal use of snake venom as a humorous drug at race parties. Elvish Yadav is indicted for arranging the snake venom at his parties and using snakes in his video shoots. Last year in November, Noida police smash a snake smuggling racket, after it raided a banquet hall in Noida Sector 51.

Five people, with four snake charmers, were arrested from the banquet hall for supplying snake venom. Police caught nine snakes, including cobras, and poison was also recovered from the banquet hall.

A forensic investigation confirmed the use of the venom of cobra and krait species in samples collected from there.

How is Elvish Yadav Involved?

The 26-year old Youtuber, Elvish Yadav, earlier dismissed relation in the snake venom row, confirmed that he had arranged snake venom and was in contact with them. Elvish Yadav caught by police under the Wildlife Act, now faces charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Stringent law section 29, which had charges against him, deals with drug-related conspiracies like buying and selling. Under this law, bail is not easily granted.

In his video shoots, Elvish Yadav is also a defendant in using snakes. After this, Elvish Yadav confirmed that the snakes present in his video were arranged by Bollywood singer Fazilpuris.

The police said, their arrest came after PFA member Gaurav Gupta complained to the police that he got in touch with Elvish Yadav for snake venom as a part of a trap. During a call, Mr Gupta was delivered a phone number after which he contacted the five suppliers.

Former Union minister Gandhi too had taken to court Mr Yadav for illegally selling snake venom.

 What is Snake Venom Addiction?

Snake venom addiction is an atypical form of substance misuse where people purposefully expose themselves to snake venom for alcoholism effects. The snake venom can abet many symptoms like intoxication due to the neurotoxins present in it. This type of addiction also known as ophidism, is dangerous and life-threatening and is not a common practice in India.

The use of drugs, including substances obtained from snake venom, is governed by the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act of 1985. According to an official, the police have not appealed to the NDPS Act against Elvish Yadav because drugs were not found on the spot. The police doing this raid, followed a complaint by an NGO after a member set a trap and contacted Elvish Yadav for snake venom.
