PM Modi to Unveil Mega Projects Worth Rs 1.64 Lakh Crore: A Boost for National Development

On 2 March, Saturday in Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will commit and lay the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 1.64 lakh crore, government officials announced in New Delhi. These investment projects for Bihar lay a vital concentration on energy, fertilizers, infrastructure, and the rail community. 

In the petroleum sector, a total of 39 projects, amounting to Rs 1.49 lakh crore, will be inaugurated or have foundation stones laid.

PM Modi will launch 29 projects out of 39 projects, with a capex of Rs. 80,000 crore, and lay the foundation stone for 10 projects with expenses of more than Rs 60,000 crore. 

The government official said that “ this financial suffuse is ready to boost the petroleum industry, increase advancements in infrastructure, increase production abilities, and boost the overall productivity of energy networks.” 

The Prime Minister will dedicate the first oil from KG Basin, extracted on January 7, 2024, and will inaugurate the departure of the maiden crude oil tanker from the ONGC Krishna Godavari deepwater project to MRPL Mangalore, Karnataka. This marks a monumental milestone in India’s energy sector.

 The project is likely to boost ONGC’s oil and gas production by 11 and 15% respectively. At Visakhapatnam, the PM will also launch the Visakh Refinery Modernisation Project to boost the capacity of the Visakh Refinery. 

PM Narendra Modi will also give the green signal to six trains and launch the Narkatiaganj-Gaunaha gauge conversion, apart from the petroleum sector. This project is part of the Jaynagar-Darbhanga-Narkatiaganj-Bhikhna Thori gauge conversion project. This project will assist in boosting the connectivity of Narkatiaganj with a border of Nepal in the West Champaran district. 

PM Modi will also allocate Raghopur-Forbesganj gauge conversion and Hajipur Bachhwara doubling. A total allocation of Rs 10,032 crore has been made in the budget for railway projects in Bihar. 

PM Modi will also launch the Barauni Fertiliser Plant which has been developed at a cost of Rs 9, 512 crores. The unit will have the ability to produce 12.7 lakh MTPA of urea and will be handled by HURL.

The Prime Minister said that they will deliver a boost to connectivity, decrease travel time, and enhance trade and tourism in the state. The Prime Minister said that the roadways, highways, and waterways departments are continuing to make better connectivity and better opportunities in Tamil Nadu, referring to the shole-of-government approach of New India. 

Hence, railways, roads, and maritime projects are being simultaneously launched. The multi-modal approach will inject fresh momentum into the state’s development, emphasized the Prime Minister. 

PM Modi also recalled his advice to develop prime lighthouses of the country into tourist destinations during an episode of Mann ki Baat and presented pride in dedicating tourist facilities to 75 lighthouses across 10 states and UTs. 

The prime Minister spotlighted the three prime ports and more than 12 small ports in Tamil Nadu and highlighted the possibilities for all southern states. The PM said, “Development of the maritime sector means the development of a state like Tamil Nadu. The same result can be seen in other prime parts of the country.” PM Modi added.

 He further said that there has been a right-times increase in national waterways during this period and the number of cruise passengers has increased four times while seafarers have doubled. 

During the recent visit to Tamil Nadu, the Prime Minister underscored the government’s dedication, affirming that he would align every sentiment of the people with the state’s development initiatives. He said, “ Tamil Nadu will be ready to move run in the path of development and I ensure that I will deliver you with new eagerness when the nation offers us the opportunity to serve for the third time.” 

At the end, the Prime Minister asked everyone to switch on their phone lights and point out that Tamil Nadu and the government of India are celebrating the festival of development. 

Governor of Tamil Nadu, RN Ravi, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, and Union Minister of State, L Murugan were present on the occasion among others.
