ISRO launched RISAT-2BR1

Well, good news for Indians! The history was made today at Sriharikota space center as on Wednesday, India launched its latest brand new spy satellite through PSLV, which is on its 50th mission.

The Indian Space Research Organization has recently launched the 50th mission from the first launch pad of the Satish Dhavan Space Center at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. However, its countdown was commenced on Tuesday evening, i.e. 10th of Dec’ 2019.

Indian Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) launches RISAT-2BR1 Military Satellite today on December 11, 2019, at around 3:30 PM in the evening. Having a mission life of 5 years, it is a radar imaging earth observation satellite. During the launch, PSLV carried 9 commercial foreign satellites from countries like Italy, Japan, Israel, and the US under a commercial contract with New Space India Limited (NSIL). Really, this is a very big success for the Indian space agency as PSLV’s 50th liftoff became successful today. ISRO also launched CARTOSAT 3 satellite on November 27 last month. It was a third-generation satellite having high-imaging resolution capability.

ISRO has said that the newly launched satellite will be used for serving various purposes like protection from disaster management, agriculture, forestry and many more as it has applications in such different fields.  But with the strategic utility of RISAT-2BR1, it remained silent.

ISRO has put around 310 foreign satellites into orbit. But with this successful mission, this no. positively went up to 319.

After the lift-off in around 16 minutes, RISAT-2BRI was placed in orbit at an altitude of 576 km & 9 other customer satellites were released after 5 minutes later.

Other than PSLV’s 50th mission, today’s launch marked the milestones in the history of India. It is also the 75th vehicle mission & the 6th launch of 2019 from the house of SDSC, AP.
