The newly launched app Threads by Meta, launched on July 5th has garnered over 50 million users in a matter of just 24 hours after the app was launched. Threads app is a micro text-based application that is regarded as the apparent Twitter killer that allows its users to post text, video, and images. Just by keeping the same username and followers everyone can get an account there.

Though various revelations about the app were making rounds since January, the app rolled out 2 days ago. The app has come out on the track of Musk’s announcement of limiting how many tweets can be read in a day. This changed the entire Twitter scenario when the users were restricted from viewing only a thousand tweets a day.

The sudden restrictions on Twitter had led its users to look for alternatives. The paid features rolled out by Elon Musk have led its users to shift to apps like Mastodon and Bluesky. The app had taken up people in a chokehold when Zuckerberg posted on Threads that the app had crossed 2 million sign-ups in just the first two hours and later the numbers went up to 10 million in the next 5 hours.

What is Threads in Instagram?

The Instagram Threads app is curated by the Meta team and is a venture that can give competition to Twitter users. It is a platform that has the feature of posting small texts along with images. The text can go up to 500 characters along with the link, photo, or video that is 5 minutes long.

The users can link their Instagram accounts to Threads and they can even share their Threads posts as their IG story.

The app holds onto a similar aesthetic to the Instagram app and the navigation system. In fact, The Instagram profile is identical to the profile on the Threads app. If you link your Threads account to your Instagram, it automatically fetches the data such as your profile picture, bio, and even the verification tick. The account can even be made public or private without affecting your Instagram. Basically, everything that is on your Instagram transfers onto the threads app.

How To Sign Up For Threads App?

The Instagram Threads app lets people sign up via their Instagram accounts. They need not create a new profile from scratch, instead, they can sign up via their Instagram profile. The app allows users to create the same profile as their Instagram account or they can create a separate one. Also, the app lets you edit the bio and the profile picture to be unique there. The Threads users can also import the info of the people they follow.

How to Use The Threads App?

Now that you have joined Threads, you can get started by logging into your Instagram credentials. Once the account is created, everything from your profile picture, bio, and everything would be ported over. However, you would still be allowed to make customization in your profile.

The app makes it easier for its followers to follow the list of people who they are already following on Instagram by fetching the data. This way, they don’t have to start from the beginning.

The users will have the authority to take actions including unfollowing, reporting, blocking, and restricting profiles. Since the app is based on the Instagram interface, the app is quite user-friendly.

Moreover, the app gives features like AI-generated descriptions for images and screen reader support.

The rolling out of the new app can potentially cause spite between the two tech giants namely Meta and Twitter. The most striking feature about Threads is the fact that they gained so many followers in a matter of hours due to Instagram being interlinked to it.

It would be safe to say that the Threads developers are enjoying the advantages of the highly dissatisfied Twitter users.
