
Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue: 4 Ambulances Stationed at Silkyara Tunnel Site, Over 35 More Expected to Arrive Soon
The rescue operation of the Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue has arrived at its last stage, with continued efforts underway to arrive the 41 trapped workers shortly. Around 4 ambulances are waiting outside the tunnel and an experienced team of seven doctors from Delhi is present on the site to check the workers and help to complete the operation.
NDRF DG, Atul Karwal said, “ The initial 6-meter pipe has been successfully injected, and simultaneous welding operations are in progress for the drilling of the subsequent pipe of equivalent length.”
He also said that the American-augur drilling machine, which was set aside to be enable to cool down, has started working again.
Today, Bhaskar Khulbe, Former Advisor to the Prime Minister’s Office said, “ On Wednesday Night, the steel structure that presented a problem in the rescue work, is clear now.” Experts from Roorkee have been called to monitor the vibration in the machine.”
On Wednesday, the obstacle was determined after 6 pm when a 44-meter pipe was inserted into the tunnel by horizontal drilling. Harpal Singh, Rescue officer said that” the drilling machine futile to cut the structures, adding that NDRF personnel will cut those, and after this, the machine will be work again.

Here are the Key Developments in the Final Stage of the Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue
- After trapped workers were rescued from the Uttarakhand Tunnel rescue, 41 beds were set for workers at the Community Health Centre in Chinyalisaur, for medical checkups and treatments of the trapped workers. The workers have been stuck inside the tunnel for a minimum of 2 weeks.
- On Wednesday, PTI said that “ two more pipes of 6 meters have transferred through the rubble to fulfill the escape passage, Jozila Tunnel project head, who is delivering a helping hand in the rescue operation in Silkyara.
- A machine was airlifted to the Uttarkashi tunnel rescue site to address issues with the auger drilling machine. Currently, NDRF personnel are fitting bearings and wheels onto stretchers, facilitating the extraction of the trapped workers on these devices rather than requiring them to crawl through the lengthy pipes.
- NDRF personnel entered the tunnel, confirmed by a Chief Minister of Uttarakhand on Wednesday. $ ambulance and an experienced team of doctors have been standing outside the tunnel for health checkups of the trapped workers. The NDRF personnel hold oxygen cylinders at the Uttarkashi tunnel site to help in the ongoing rescue operation.
- This morning, the District Magistrate of Uttarakhand, Abhishek Ruhela reached the site when the final procedure of the mission continued. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi communicated to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to take the current status of the ongoing rescue work. The Prime Minister asked about essential items like food and medicines delivered to the trapped workers by a new and wide pipe.
